Russia: Poland risks attack because of US missiles

MOSCOW - A top Russian general said Friday that Poland's agreement to accept a U.S. missile interceptor base exposes the ex-communist nation to attack, possibly by nuclear weapons, the Interfax news agency reported.

The statement by Gen. Anatoly Nogovitsyn is the strongest threat that Russia has issued against the plans to put missile defense elements in former Soviet satellite nations.

Poland and the United States on Thursday signed a deal for Poland to accept a missile interceptor base as part of a system the United States says is aimed at blocking attacks by rogue nations. Moscow, however, feels it is aimed at Russia's missile force.

"Poland, by deploying (the system) is exposing itself to a strike — 100 percent," Nogovitsyn, the deputy chief of staff, was quoted as saying.

He added, in clear reference to the agreement, that Russia's military doctrine sanctions the use of nuclear weapons "against the allies of countries having nuclear weapons if they in some way help them." Nogovitsyn that would include elements of strategic deterrence systems, he said, according to Interfax.

At a news conference earlier Friday, Nogovitsyn had reiterated Russia's frequently stated warning that placing missile-defense elements in Poland and the Czech Republic would bring an unspecified military response. But his subsequent reported statement substantially stepped up a war of words.

U.S. officials have said the timing of the deal was not meant to antagonize Russian leaders at a time when relations already are strained over the recent fighting between Russia and Georgia over the separatist Georgian region of South Ossetia.

Russian forces went deep into Georgia in the fighting, raising wide concerns that Russia could be seeking to occupy parts of its small, pro-U.S. neighbor, which has vigorously lobbied to join NATO, or even to force its government to collapse.

"I think the Russian behavior over the last several days is generally concerning not only to the United States but to all of our European allies," said Pentagon spokesman Bryan Whitman, when asked about Russian threats against Poland as a result of the missile defense agreement.

He also suggested that earlier U.S. offers for broad cooperation with Moscow on the missile defense program may be reevaluated considering the latest developments.

Under the agreement that Warsaw and Washington reached Thursday, Poland will accept an American missile interceptor base.

Washington says the planned system, which is not yet operational, is needed to protect the U.S. and Europe from possible attacks by missile-armed "rogue states" like Iran. The Kremlin, however, feels it is aimed at Russia's missile force and warns it will worsen tensions.

In an interview on Poland's news channel TVN24, Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk said the United States agreed to help augment Poland's defenses with Patriot missiles in exchange for placing 10 missile defense interceptors in the Eastern European country.

He said the deal also includes a "mutual commitment" between the two nations to come to each other's assistance "in case of trouble."

That clause appeared to be a direct reference to Russia.

Poland has all along been guided by fears of a newly resurgent Russia, an anxiety that has intensified with Russia's offensive in Georgia. In past days, Polish leaders said that fighting justified Poland's demands that it get additional security guarantees from Washington in exchange for allowing the anti-missile base on its soil.

"Simply the existence of this installation increases Poland's security," Polish President Lech Kaczynski said Friday.

Cover Story: Barack Obama's Christian Journey | Newsweek Politics: Campaign 2008 | Newsweek.com

Obama has spoken often and eloquently about the importance of religion in public life. But like many political leaders wary of offending potential backers, he has been less revealing about what he believes—about God, about prayer, about the connection between salvation and personal responsibility. In some respects, his reticence is understandable. Obama's religious biography is unconventional and politically problematic. Born to a Christian-turned-secular mother and a Muslim-turned-atheist African father, Obama grew up living all across the world with plenty of spiritual influences, but without any particular religion. He is now a Christian, having been baptized in the early 1990s at Trinity United Church of Christ in Chicago. But rumors about Obama's religion persist. In the new NEWSWEEK Poll, 12 percent of voters incorrectly believe he's Muslim; more than a quarter believe he was raised in a Muslim home.

His baptism presents its own problems. The senior pastor at Trinity at the time of Obama's baptism was the Rev. Jeremiah Wright Jr., the preacher who was seen damning America on cable TV for weeks last spring—and will doubtless be seen again this fall. In the NEWSWEEK Poll, almost half of the respondents say Obama shares at least some of Wright's views; nearly a third say Wright might prevent them from voting for the presumptive Democratic nominee.

The story of Obama's religious journey is a uniquely American tale. It's one of a seeker, an intellectually curious young man trying to cobble together a religious identity out of myriad influences. Always drawn to life's Big Questions, Obama embarked on a spiritual quest in which he tried to reconcile his rational side with his yearning for transcendence. He found Christ—but that hasn't stopped him from asking questions. "I'm on my own faith journey and I'm searching," he says. "I leave open the possibility that I'm entirely wrong."

Two New E-mail Domains from Yahoo! After 11 Years - ymail.com and rocketmail.com are waiting for millions of email users - Softpedia

Two New E-mail Domains from Yahoo! After 11 Years - ymail.com and rocketmail.com are waiting for millions of email users - Softpedia: "Two New E-mail Domains from Yahoo! After 11 Years
- ymail.com and rocketmail.com are waiting for millions of email users"

Yahoo!Mail is a popular free email service that exists since October 1997. For the first time in eleven years, Yahoo! Inc. makes available two new email domain names: ymail.com and rocketmail.com.

Due to the fact that there are already more that 260 million email users corresponding to the domain yahoo.com, certain Yahoo! IDs or email addresses are not available for the new users. Until now, Yahoo! users had to define and remember login IDs like john_doe2008 for example, a situation undesired by the majority of users.

As a consequence of the apparition of these two new email domains, when a user creates a new Yahoo! Account, he/she will have the pleasant surprise of finding out that he/she can define the desired Yahoo! ID, because millions of names are still available.

Regarding the release of the two new email domains John Kremer, vice president, Yahoo! Mail stated, "We recognize that people want an e-mail address that reflects who they are, whether they are signing up for an e-mail address for the first time, or simply updating their e-mail pseudonym to reflect the stage they are at in life. We are thrilled to be able to offer new Yahoo! e-mail domain choices to Internet users, along with the same great Web mail experience that hundreds of millions of people have already come to expect."

The email addresses defined for ymail.com and rocketmail.com domains will provide users with the features already existing in the case of yahoo.com emails such as unlimited storage, instant messaging and text messaging, anti-spam and anti-virus protection and more. The corresponding Yahoo! ID can be used to login to all free web based services available across the Yahoo! Network. For the new users, the sign up form to get the free Yahoo! ID and an email box can be accessed from here.

Yahoo! BrowserPlus "Sneak Peek" Release - A New Browsing Experience - Softpedia

Yahoo! BrowserPlus "Sneak Peek" Release - A New Browsing Experience - Softpedia: "Yahoo! BrowserPlus 'Sneak Peek' Release
- A New Browsing Experience"

The bridge between desktop and browser can be filled by available technologies of rich Internet applications
development. Practically, the user is capable to interact both with desktop elements and web browser based ones through the functionalities of a RIA (Rich Internet Application).
The "Sneak Peek" release of Yahoo! BrowserPlus allows users to live a different browsing experience by extending the desktop to the browser limits. The web browser capabilities will be enhanced by Yahoo! BrowserPlus to provide users the possibility to perform more desktop common actions inside the web browser window.

For example, the demo application Photo Uploader (an image editing and images Flickr upload rich Internet application) permits users to execute inside the web browser drag and drop and image cropping actions, apply various filters to images and other actions. Code samples for developers are available for simple and complex applications.

The BrowserPlus software is available for installation for Windows XP and Vista, respectively Mac OS X 10.4 Tiger and Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard operating systems and will work with Firefox 2.x, Safari 3 and Microsoft Internet Explorer 7.0 web browsers. The BrowserPlus software runs independently from the web browser and as a consequence it will not influence directly the browser capacity of response regarding web pages rendering speed.

A unique feature of BrowserPlus is its capability of new services integration without restarting the browser. The development team of BrowserPlus is also focused over the maintenance of application security: services having security issues will be disabled before someone puts into practice various types of cyber attacks.

Until a public release, "Sneak Peek" BrowserPlus will be present only on websites belonging to Yahoo! or Yahoo! partner websites. The browser capabilities extension towards creation of a desktop - like web based environment for Internet users through rich Internet applications - will be a major attraction for developers in the near future.

_gat error message - Troubleshooting | Google Groups

_gat error message - Troubleshooting | Google Analytics:

"_gat not defined"

Google Analytics causes some errors (visible by seeing the 'Done, but with errors' type of message in lower part of Internet Explorer 7, or Firebug in Firefox.

Looks like the Google script does not validate if the actual tracking script is already loaded before it is executed.

There are several fixes and work-arounds out there, but I tried several and this is the only code that ultimately worked for me:

<script src="http://www.google-analytics.com/ga.js" type="text/javascript"></script>
<script type="text/javascript">
if (typeof(_gat) == "object") {
var pageTracker = _gat._getTracker("UA-XXXXXX-1");
pageTracker._initData();
pageTracker._trackPageview();
}
</script>

Be sure to replace the "UA-XXXXXX-1" with your Google Analytics account number, and also insure the carriage return does not add any extra spaces.

Israel shows abilities for Iran strike - Yahoo! News (with my commentary)

Israel shows abilities for Iran strike - Yahoo! News: "WASHINGTON - A large Israeli military exercise this month may have been aimed at showing Jerusalem's abilities to attack Iranian nuclear facilities."

My commentary:

Anyone who believes that Iran, who sits on a sea of oil, is building a nuclear reactor for "energy", all the while using weapons grade plutonium, is blind to the obvious! Iran doesn't need another energy source. And the president of Iran has consistently said that Iran will eliminate Israel ("wipe them off the map") at their first opportunity.

So when you add it up, Iran's intentions are clear.
Based on this comment from Israeli military analyst Martin Van Creveld:
But though an Israeli strike would likely be able to "paralyze the most important Iranian nuclear installations," it probably wouldn't be able to destroy the program, Van Creveld said. "I would be very surprised if Israel can really knock out every part of this program, which by all accounts appears to be large and well concealed and well dispersed," he said.
...if it were a nuclear "power plant" that Iran was building, why would it be so secretive, well concealed, so dispersed, and so intentionally difficult to destroy?

Meanwhile, Russia helps give arms and nuclear scientists and nuclear and arms assistance to Iran (can you say "AK-47"?) and Syria, while blowing a smoke screen at the U.N. with a bunch of rhetoric (reminds me of Senator Palpatine in Star Wars who was very political in winning the people's favor for peace and all the while was the evil Sith Lord in disguise, building his army in preparation for war). Who doesn't see this??

North Korea is doing the same thing, but assisting Syria with nuclear strength, most likely for evil purposes: "a facility in Syria that U.S. officials have said was a nuclear reactor being constructed with North Korean assistance". Why else would Syria, another oil rich nation with a hatred for the Israeli's, need nuclear capabilities?

If I were Israel, I wouldn't trust the U.S. position based on a "U.S. intelligence report released late last year concluded that Iran has suspended its nuclear weapons program". I'm sure the U.S. is missing something (economic sanctions are not enough motivation for Iran to stop their push towards Israel's destruction).

We all know that Armageddon is inevitable, (most likely with Russia and China as Gog or the 'bear from the north' allying against Israel in World War III; do a Google search on "
revelation attack from the north" and draw your own conclusions), but we can at least stop playing games and call a spade a spade, recognizing the 'evil empire' of Iran (and others) for what it is.

Meanwhile the U.S. has little power to stop all of this since most of our industrialization has gone overseas...when war comes how will we create weapons and munitions if all of our manufacturing plants are closed and everything is being made in China or India? And much of the U.S. is owned and therefore controlled by overseas interests, as we continue to go trillians and trillians of dollars into debt.

Bottom line is this was all predicted, and the only real hope is in Jesus Christ.

Gas prices much better than California

We were just in California for a few days. Gas prices are around $4.50 or more per gallon.

Gas prices in Colorado are much better than California.

Normal gas prices here (Golden/Denver) are around $3.89, but we're able to get gas at $3.79 Conoco with a King Soopers (Kroger) discount we get by shopping there for groceries.

Just one more reason why we like living here! :-)
