"ground blizzard"

Last night I learned a new term from the TV news: 'ground blizzard'. We have such strong winds quite a bit of the time, that when there is snow (which is very light and powdery around Denver), it just blows and swirls around like crazy, mostly around the ground.

Visibility can be impaired when driving, and it's not a whole lot of fun being out in it either.
